Hershey Trust Company is an independent
trust company founded by Milton S. Hershey in 1905. The stock of Hershey Trust Company
is wholly owned by the Milton Hershey School Trust. In 1909, Milton Hershey created the
Milton Hershey School Trust and appointed Hershey Trust Company as its trustee to provide
investment management and administration for the School Trust. Mr. Hershey established
the School Trust to provide for the health, education and welfare of orphaned boys. The
Schools original enrollment
was ten students. Today, more than 100 years later, Mr. Hersheys legacy continues. The School
currently has an enrollment of approximately 1,700 students, with an equal mix of boys and
girls. Enrollment is expected to grow to 2,000 students over the next several years.
Because of Hershey Trust Companys consistent, superior investment management of
Milton Hersheys original funding of 486 acres of land and $60 million in Hershey
Chocolate Company stock, the School Trusts assets have grown to a value of nearly $8 billion today.
For years, Hershey Trust Company has made available its outstanding
investment, financial planning, and administrative expertise and experience to individual
and institutional investors. Due to some recent regulatory changes, Hershey Trust Company
is now able to provide our individual and institutional clients access to specialized
asset managers previously available only to the School Trust. These are asset managers
to whom individual investors would not otherwise have access because of the managers minimum
investment requirements. Therefore, our clients can participate in the same investment
disciplines, styles and strategies that have produced outstanding results for the Milton
Hershey School Trust.
